When Jesus began His public ministry, it was a ministry of miracles.. His ministry did not succeed because of its great organization.. He started with twelve disciples and ended with eleven.. It did not succeed because of popularity.. In the end, everyone turned against Him including His own followers.. His ministry touched the multitudes because of the demonstration of power:
And they were astonished at His doctrine, for His word was with power.
The church was birthed in a demonstration of power..
These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.
They affected entire cities and nations, but they didn't do it by just preaching alone.. People listened and lives were changed because they witnessed the demonstrations of God's power..
the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip
spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were
possessed with them; and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were
And there was great joy in that city.
When Peter came to Lydda, he found a man named Aeneas who had been bedridden for eight years.. Through power delegated to him by Jesus through the Holy Spirit and through his faith, Peter healed him.. When Lydda and Saron witnessed this they instanty converted..
In Joppa, Peter raised a woman named Dorcas from the dead. When this miracle took place, it was "known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord."
Each miraculous demonstration of God's power focused attention on Jesus.. Each power encounter resulted in multiplication of the church..
Political influence is not what we need to reach the world with the Word of God.. The early church did not have enough influence to keep Peter out of prison, but they had enough power to pray him out..
More preaching isn't what will reach the world.. The early church prayed for days, preached a few minutes, and 3,000 souls were saved.. Today we pray ten minutes, preach a ten day revival, and see only thirty saved..
When Peter and John passed by the temple gate at Jerusalem, a lame beggar asked for a few coins. Peter and John did not even have this small amount of funds.. But they gave what they had; what they had was power and authority in the name of Jesus.. They told him to stand up and walk, and he did..
Today, student's at Bethel University are quickly learning the power of God.. Miracles have become a part of their everyday life.. Because of their faith, amazing things are happening; cancerous tumors just fall off, broken bones knit together, missing body parts are regrown.. People in wheelchairs stand up and walk..
Students at this University walk through malls and grocery stores praying over anyone who will allow them, and true miracles are taking place, between 200 to 500 hundred in a single weekend! These students have completely embraced what so many of us (myself included) have not..
For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
I Corinthians 4:20
Oh to have such faith! To have no fear of walking through public places proclaiming the name of Jesus and declaring people healed.. Imagine how many people would come to Christ if they were given the opportunity to witness a true miracle with there very own eyes! Miracles the Bible says we can perform if only we would demonstrate true faith in the power of the name of Jesus..
"Ya know, the Bible says to do it, and not many people go out because they don't believe it's for today. But if you understand that the Bible says that and you just go out and do it, you'd be surprised at the product that comes back. Like, that God just completely heals."
